Product Description When JD Reed shows up at the Circle R horse ranch, Avery Dalton is fully prepared to hate his guts. Tapped by his aunt to help out at the horse ranch, the greenhorn thinks he can just step in and run the show, but Avery's not having any. JD's got a line on Avery's secret, though barely acknowledged need to be sexually dominated, A loner used to making his own way, Avery'll be damned before he submits to the arrogant Yankee. JD Reed can never resist a challenge, and Avery Dalton is no exception. Determined to seduce and claim the tattooed, tough guy, JD teases and taunts his prey until he goes too far. In a battle of wills that turns physical, the sexual tension seething just below the surface explodes like a Texas tornado that sweeps them both off their feet.

Texas Surrender June 27, 2010 Conrad James Claire Thompson, author of the NLA award-winning Submission Times Two, pens another erotically charged Dominant/submissive m/m novel in Texas Surrender. I am amazed at how eloquently she captures the very heart and soul of a Dom and a sub(s) in both novels. For Thompson, D/s play is so much more than a mechanical exchange between players. She captures the mental and emotional struggle that goes on in the interior of her characters, how DNA may or may not interface with reality. Thompson describes the sensuality experienced by those who impose and absorb erotic pain. She illustrates in words the exquisite experience of being in control and/or of discovering the ecstasy and power of surrender. Some BDSM lit is bereft of love and romance, even disclaims its existence. Not this author. She unashamedly injects love and romance into her power exchange novels, and good for her! In Texas Surrender she brings together two unlikely characters who struggle to find out who they are and what is important to them. It's an achingly beautiful saga, and I can still feel the delicious sting of JD's crop on my ass. More Sir! Please Sir! Thank you Sir!
5 Hearts from TRS! May 13, 2010 The Romance Studio (East Coast, USA) I enjoyed this story so much that I could not put it down until I had finished it. It is the first male/male story I have read and it amazed me on how they work just as hard, if not harder, for a relationship as a male/female relationship. I found it interesting how hard JD worked to get Avery to come around and understand what he really wanted out of a relationship. It did not go so well in the beginning but JD just keep on working to get it right.
I enjoyed reading this story. Once Avery understood it was easy for him to give into JD and let him be the Domoinant in the relationship. It was very hard for Avery at first because it made him think of himself as a sissy boy but JD expanded to him that it made him a strong person to give into his wants and needs and to trust JD. This story kept my interest from start to finish. While I liked the story very much, I do not feel it is a story for anyone under the age of 18 or older. - Penny
Texas Surrender May 7, 2010 M. Nix The Circle R Ranch means everything to Avery Dalton. When Charlie, the ranch owner, dies Avery tries running the ranch on his own. However, he soon realizes that he'll need help. JD Reed is Charlie's nephew. He came to Texas to pay respects to his uncle, but once he gets a look at Avery his dream of being a chef in New York gets put on hold for a while. JD introduces Avery to a lifestyle of submission that Avery never knew he craved, except JD has plans to move on.
Texas Surrender is about more than BDSM fetishes. JD and Avery's story has substance and their passion knows no boundaries. Avery really blossoms under JD's firm but loving hand. His attempts to deny his desires are genuine, but futile. Watching him try creates many heartfelt moments between them. JD becomes vulnerable too when he starts to wonder how Avery really feels about him. There is a lot of give and take, both emotionally and physically between Avery and JD as they sort through it all. While Avery learns about his sexual desires, JD is experiencing an emotional connection with someone for the first time. It unnerves him. Texas Surrender is a heartfelt, erotic story with some kink.

Pretty good, although I didn't like it as much as some other Thompson books I've read March 18, 2010 Charly T. Anchor (Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful

Rating: 7/10
PROS:
- The gradual process by which JD seduces Avery into trying BDSM is pretty well done, especially considering how short the book is (it's fewer than 200 pages). And there's a scene where JD and Avery are watching two horses, one of which has had to be tied down, that is sexually charged and leads beautifully into the first scene in which the two men play with rope.
- The sex scenes are sort of quick and dirty and a little on the rough side. I didn't find them particularly hot, but they seemed right for the story and the characters.
- I liked the ending, even if it's a little unrealistic. (A lot of romance books have unrealistic endings, in my opinion, but I still like them because I'm a sap.)
CONS:
- Avery's struggle to accept his submissive urges rang true to me. However, the book isn't long enough to examine that struggle in a lot of detail. It felt a little brushed over to me compared to the psychological explorations in other BDSM romances.
- The characters are pleasant and I enjoyed reading their story. But nothing struck me as terribly unique about them; I don't know that they'll stick out in my mind two months from now, considering how many romances I read.
Overall comments: I'm a Claire Thompson fan; her writing flows smoothly and easily and she creates likeable characters with realistic-seeming connections. I don't think this is among her best books, but a decent book by Thompson is better than a good book by some other authors.
Cowboys with BDSM Theme February 23, 2010 Elizabeth A I enjoyed this book even though I'm not interested in BDSM. I've read some other male romance books with that theme, and I like this book the best out of that group because it's not hardcore, and there is respect and love. Fortunately, there isn't any body piercing because I'm squeamish! Texas Surrender flows well, and I like Claire Thompson's descriptions of life on a horse ranch. Both main characters are likable and the sexual tension between the two is HOT!
