Product Description Skye, the protector of gay boys and virtual superhero, comes within a hair’s-breadth of death when he tackles a new foe. He is saved only by the quick thinking of Devon, his former nemesis, who alone recognizes the nature of Skye’s attacker. Marshall, the resident expert on the supernatural, summons help and Skye cannot believe his eyes when the promised help ultimately comes in the form of two young boys. Skye’s concept of reality is about to change forever.
Devon is a sixteen-year old boy—again. Now mortal and human, he’s back in high school, facing a life both familiar and strange. His former enemies have forgiven him, but can they ever forget? Devon seeks redemption, but his own memories stand in the way. A special boy crosses Devon’s path, giving him hope that he may find self-forgiveness and happiness despite his horrific past.
Shadows of Darkness is the latest chapter in the Gay Youth Chronicles and one that takes the tale into a new supernatural direction.

GR8 book! August 19, 2010 W. Stuart Mark Roeder has created another fantastic book! I am usually not fond of the supernatural, but I liked the way it was developed.
I also liked that "Devon", a previously bad character, has been revived and given a second chance. That he is running with that second chance makes it all the better. I continue to enjoy seeing characters from previous books.
I look forwrd to reading more.
Another great read May 26, 2010 Charles E. Brock 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Having found Mark A. Roeder's book a little over a year ago, I have waited for this, his latest book with juch anticipation. Again, Roeder has captivated me with the continuity of story in his usual remarkable way. Picking up story lines from those of the past that caused this reader to say to Roeder "more, more".
His bringing in the "good" vampires to defeat the evil captured me as I like vampire stories. Forgiveness taught in a lesson that makes this reader have thoughts from this example that the workd needs so much.
I respect the opinion of the first reviewer, but know that I am so far from that opinion that I just like this book in a very different way. I have found my gay friends to express the wish that these books had been around as they were in their early teen years when they needed understanding and support and feared that they were all alone in their feelings. I have recently donated my paper copies of all of The Gay Chronicles to a support center that works with GLBT youngsters. I have all of these books on my KindleKindle Shortcuts, Hidden Features, Kindle-Friendly Websites, Free eBooks & Email From Kindle: Concise User Guide for Kindle 2 (US & International), DX, 1, iPhone & iPod (Mobi Manuals).
I look forward to more of Mark A. Roeder's books and hope he continues to share his amazing abilities for many years to come. I would have given more than 5 starts if it had been possible.

This was another well written and perfect addition to the Gay youth Chronicles. I'm glad that through understanding that one small piece of evil (Devon) was able to redeem himself and have a second chance at getting it right even if it did take over twenty years and death for him to get his do-over. Devon had to move on knowing everything he had ever done to hurt the people in his life and then to in the end be saved and loved by those same people showed us all that there is goodness in most everyone. Devon had a chance to live the life he was meant to live the first time around but couldn't through the hatred and jealousy he harboured towards Taylor and Mark. i liked that It showed some of our previous favourites all grown up.
A Great Read! May 4, 2010 Barbara Rivera (wi) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I would not agree with a previous reviewer that Mark Roeder simply rehashed the same old plot lines from his previous novels for this novel. The previous novels in relation to Graymoor Mansion dealt with ghosts and haunting (both residual and intelligent). Unlike the previous novels, this novel also deals with vampires. It does include characters from Vampire Heart, but not the same concepts. For example, Vampire Heart made no mention of curing vampirism (Basil was still working on the cure).
Overall, a fast read that I couldn't put down.
Continuing a great series May 4, 2010 J. Adkinson 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
many of Mark's great characters are back, and this continuation of the Gay Youth Chronicles keeps the string going.
I especially like that one of the worst villains of the past gets a chance to relive his youth, and correct the mistakes he made in an earlier life. The addition of vampire characters, previously introduced in Mark's "Vampire's Heart" to the Verona story line was great, and added a new dimension to the mystical content of the series.
Devon's second chance is overseen by two of his earlier victims, Shawn and Tristan, who agree to be his adoptive parents for this new life.
I can't wait for the next sequel to continue this story.
